Apply the Positive Practice of IGNORE the Haters.”

Sanballat, Tobiah, Geshem the Arab, and the rest of our enemies (i.e. Haters) found out that I had finished rebuilding the wall and that no gaps remained—though we had not yet set up the doors in the gates. 2 So Sanballat and Geshem sent a message asking me to meet them at one of the villages[a] in the plain of Ono. But I realized they were plotting to harm me, 3 so I replied by sending this message to them: “I am engaged in a great work, so I can’t come. Why should I stop working to come and meet with you?” 4Four times they sent the same message, and each time I gave the same reply. (Nehemiah 6:1-4) NLT
IGNORE the Haters: give no attention or affection to the things or people who are bound to distract you. (BKLC)
Dr. Rosché says:  IGNORE is often used in psychology when teaching parents how to IGNORE the negative behaviors of their children in order to change their negative behavior(s).  This same sentiment can be captured in teaching us how to IGNORE our Haters. Haters, meaning those who try to Distract, Discourage, and Destroy us through actions and words unintentionally and especially those who do this intentionally, don’t deserve any of our attention nor affection.  In order to begin IGNORing our Haters we need to practice:
  • Resisting the Pull of our natural reaction to respond to their Hatin’.
    • It’s often difficult to not give in to our natural reaction to yell, comment, and acknowledge another person’s negative behavior.  Ignoring requires you to Not Acknowledge them.  Haters have no power unless you acknowledge them (Tinka)
  • Recognize that once you first stop being bothered by your Haters, they will escalate
    • Most haters are close to us and Know exactly what to say or do in order to get under our skin.  So once they realize you are trying to be better or not give in to their attacks, they will go Harder in trying to get you to react.  Be like Nehemiah and tell them “I am engaged in a great work, so I can’t come. Why should I stop working to come and meet with you?”  -Haters are not important and therefore should not be your Priority.
  • Remember to Stay Consistent
    • Consistency in your efforts to IGNORE will over time alleviate you of those Haters.  They will see their efforts have no effect on you so their time is wasted and they will flee.  Resist the Devil, and He will Flee!!  Nehimiah had to tell them 4 times before they stopped and you will have to do the same.
Bishop Clark says:
Haters are our elevators to the next level
Indicator that we are on the right track to change
Haters Criticize and publicize our weakness to minimize our success
People hate for one of 4 reasons
B ecause of who you are
·         They see something in you that they wish they could be. You are smart, beautiful, determined, positive, loving, caring, outspoken, confident, overall favored by God.
B ecause of what you have
·         They see blessings all around you.  You are God’s Favorite person to Bless.  Thank God for past gifts, present blessings, and future favor!!
B ecause of where you are going
·         They see that God is your Father who has ALL and is helping you be and get MORE! More success, more accomplishments, more positivity, more favor in the eyes of others…
B ecause of what you’re doing
·         They see your victory before you can even see it and they are mad about it.  They see that God is showing you great favor due to the Faith you have shown by your Works.
When they Hate GO HARDER!!!
Go Harder in your success.  If you have a successful business, start another one!  If you have a loving relationship, show more affection to your partner! If you are confident, smile brighter! If you have one degree, get another degree!  If you have a house, get nice furniture and a car too!  If you have a story that they know about, write a book! If you are favored, be more thankful and pleasing to God for More Favor!  Go Hard, and send them Home!!!

I know it’s WORK and it’s easier to continue to do the same thing over and over again because you and Drama have become such close friends over the years, but break yourself from this friend and introduce yourself to some new friends named Peace, Hope, and Success. Nobody said it would be easy, but God hasn’t brought you this far to LEAVE you. Remember to ask for HIS Guidance in beginning this process. I am here for you too and I’m willing to answer any questions you may have about what hinders your ability to make progress in this area.

APPs = Applying Positive Practices

Apply the Positive Practice of Obedience.”

“If you Love me, then you will obey my commandments.” (John 14:15)

Obedience is listening to God with a purpose so you can live the BEST life. (BKLC)

Dr. Rosché says:  Most humans have no problem with being obedient.  In past psychological studies, Milgram and Stanford Prison Experiment, the participants obeyed their role in the study to the detriment of other people and even in if it was in conflict to their own moral values because they perceived the researcher to have authority.  We often obey others when we perceive they have authority over our lives.  We make it to work because we know that our employer or manager has authority to stop our check. We obey deadlines at school because the teacher has authority over our grades.  We follow our parents, friends or significant others in different activities or interactions because we don’t want to intercept the relationships. So we know how to obey, but who has authority or influence over our life will show who we will obey.
Does God have authority over your Life?
In most of the above examples, it can be noticed that obeying is happening due to fear of the unknown?  However, according to John 14:15, God wants us to obey out of our Love for Him and in turn our Love for ourselves.  Have you ever noticed that in obeying God we are pleasing Him but also benefiting ourselves.  When I make the choice not to fornicate, I am pleasing God but also preventing potential physical repercussions such as STDs or AIDs or emotional turmoil such as heartache and disappointment.  When I make the choice to not gossip, I am pleasing God but also preventing the possibility that I will be considered messy or untrustworthy.  When I make the choice of not committing adultery, not lying and not stealing, I am pleasing God, but also remaining a virtuous person. God desires us to have the BEST life and we can have it as long as we obey him and stay in step with the Holy Spirit.

Bishop Clark says that you deserve the  B.E.S.T life

B etter quality of life
·         Better is only valid in comparison to something worse.  You deserve the Best that God has for you and not just better.
E nriched
·         You want to have an Enriched life full of all lives pleasures
Safer life
·         A life not full of Drama and Chaos just because it’s familiar to you.  The safest place in the whole wide world is in the Will of God.

Apply the Positive Practice of Patience with God’s Promise

Now the LORD was gracious to Sarah as he had said, and the LORD did for Sarah what he had promised. Sarah became pregnant and bore a son to Abraham in his old age, at the very time God had promised him. (Genesis 21:1-2)

Patience with God’s Promise is understanding
“It’s Yours but are you waiting on it or is it waiting on you?” (BKLC)

Dr. Rosché says:  This whole month of February we discussed the importance of patience, which is “waiting with the right attitude.”  In our lives we must be patient with others to show love, patient with ourselves to show hope, but most importantly patient with God to show Faith.  In the above biblical account, Sarah and Abraham had to wait several years before God showed them manifestation of the promise he had spoken to them.  Sometimes we ask the Lord when will it be my turn? My turn to have enough money to supply my needs and wants? My turn to have a husband? My turn to have a wife? My turn to have a house? My turn to have children? My turn, My turn, My turn!!!  Psalms 37:4 states that if we “take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” God has planted dreams and promises inside of us and desires for us to have everything beyond what we ask and think.
However, the question is not when will it be my turn but am I ready for what God has for me?  If you are ready, it will be shown in your behavior.  You don’t have excess money, but are you a good money manager (tithes, savings, bills paid on time)? You don’t have a husband or wife, but are you emotionally ready for unforeseen ups and downs of the relationship? To the men: Are you a Manager? Women: Are you a Helper? You don’t have a house, but are you willing to make necessary sacrifices to get it? You want children but are you willing to go through the correct biblical order in becoming a
Man>Husband>Father                    Woman>Wife>Mother?

Are you Ready, Ready, Ready?

Bishop Clark explains the process is taking time in order for God to...
Shape Us
·         Getting us ready for what God has prepared.  Are you mentally, emotionally, socially, physically, spiritually developed enough to accept the promise?
Strengthen Us
·         Are you ready for everything that comes with the promise? Are you ready for the responsibilities? Management? Haters?
Show Us
·         Who He is in our lives.  Are you ready to give God all the glory?  Will you worship and praise Him even after you get what you want?  Will you continue to go to church and be his servant in ministry?

I know it’s WORK and it’s easier to continue to do the same thing over and over again because you and Drama have become such close friends over the years, but break yourself from this friend and introduce yourself to some new friends named Peace, Hope, and Success. APPs = Applying Positive Practices

Apply the Positive Practice of Personal Patience.”

Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. (Philippians 3:12)

Patience with Self is understanding “you are not there yet, but you are on your way” (BKLC)

Dr. Rosché says:  It is difficult to be Patient with Others and even more so difficult to be Patient with Yourself.  Have you ever reflected and thought I should have a better job by now. I wish I went back to school. I should’ve handled that situation better. I should be doing better emotionally, mentally, physically, etc…  These are very familiar or common feelings and the truth is all of these statements are us not being patient with ourselves in the process of maturing.  The first thing to identify is your pattern of thinking about your position in life.  We all have thinking that may be illogical or irrational and ultimately not true and it’s called irrational thinking pattern.

  • Do you Catastrophize? Which means make something bigger than it is? Now that I have broken up with my partner, I will be alone forever!! Now that I have lost my job I am going to loose my house, car, etc…
  • Do you have All or Nothing Thinking? Which means if it doesn’t go exactly how you planned then you have failed? He didn’t propose this year so I will never get married. I didn’t loose all the weight I wanted to so I am a failure.  They don’t like me so I am not likable.
  • Do you Minimize your successes and Maximize your Problems? I lost 5 pounds but I should’ve lost 10 pounds.  I finished my first year of college but I should’ve done this years ago.  I went to church twice this month, but I should’ve gone all month long.  I said one thing positive about myself, but I am still negative most of the time.
Being consumed with questioning your progress and not celebrating the journey of the process can be detrimental to your mental health.  It can cause you to experience a level of depression or hopelessness about what your future holds.

Bishop Clark says that you need to T.R.Y.
T alk positive to you
·         When you feel defeated and depleted you must encourage yourself
Refuse to see your failures as final
·         Christianity is all about hope.  Say to yourself that “I’m not there yet but I am on my way.”  Once you build potential on the inside you can handle the pressures of the outside.
Yet Mentality
·         Have vision of your future.
o   If you are a visual learner then spend time developing a vision board
o   If you are an auditory learner then say it out loud to hear yourself claim victory over your life and circumstances.
We must feel our dreams coming true in all of our senses.  It is time to see it, hear it, touch it, smell it, and taste it.  Psalms 34:8 says Oh taste and see that the Lord is good, blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

I know it’s WORK and it’s easier to continue to do the same thing over and over again because you and Drama have become such close friends over the years, but break yourself from this friend and introduce yourself to some new friends named Peace, Hope, and Success.
