If you missed it on
KMEL,
Dr. Rosché summarizes and furthers the
discussion… Check It Out!!!
Over the past few years with the
increase and growth of technology, especially smart phones, we have been given
the ability to play games, catch sport scores, count calories, pay bills, update
social media and a plethora of other things at the palm of our hands. Everything has been made easier through the
use of Applications aka APPs. This year my Pastor, Bishop Keith L. Clark (BKLC),
has decided that we will begin to do some WORK spiritually and psychologically
to make our lives better by Downloading APPs
every week throughout the 2015 year.
APPs = Applying Positive Practices
This week
we encourage everyone to “Download the App of BALANCE.”
There
is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens
Ecclesiastes
3:1
BALANCE happens “when everything in your life gets the needed
attention.” (BKLC)
Dr. Rosché says: there are so many
facets necessary for us all to have a successful life (Spiritual,
Psychological, Mental, Emotional, Physical, Social, Work, Family, etc…) and at certain
times in our lives one or more can become overwhelming, making it hard to
juggle them all. If we focus too much on
one area, we inadvertently neglect other important areas. All areas are intertwined and necessary for
our overall well-being. If we spend too
much time on building a career, there is no time to build up our family. If we spend too much time focusing on our
social life (friends and romances) we may neglect our desire to reach important
career and spiritual goals. And we all
know how physical goals can be put to the waist side when we are overworked,
stressed emotionally about break ups, parenting, finances, etc... So the question
is What Do We Do?
First, it
is important to start with some self-care and take a simple break to begin your
process of change.
1.
Make a
LIST of all of the important areas in your life. Think about what is truly a NEED. A NEED is something that is Necessary for your Empowerment Enrichment and Development (BKLC). Do I need this person in my life even
though they bring me emotional turmoil? Do
I need to make more money even if that means less time with my kids? Do I need to “kick it” even if that means
miss hearing God’s Word that can change my life spiritually?
2.
Separate:
prioritize what and who are important in your life
and how much time and energy must be spent to nurture these areas. How
can I set better boundaries with others and things that take too much energy? Saying
“No” is necessary self-care even if it is to family members. Think about Agape Love and if you are doing what’s Best for them by always saving the day during a crisis
(BKLC). Remember: Poor planning on your
part should not equal emergency on my part.
People need space to grow and if you are always there, they will never
have the opportunity to know
what they can do for themselves in a given situation.
3.
Schedule:
When and How should I plan to pay
attention to all necessary
areas of my life. In this area, you must
be flexible with yourself as there will always be something that pops up that
was not on your schedule. Remember: If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. If you don’t have an initial goal it will only
bring about more difficulty, chaos, drama, and stress within your life. Having
a schedule will only require minor adjustments compared to devising an
impulsive action plan when and if something unpredictable happens.
I know it’s WORK and it’s
easier to continue to do the same thing over and over again because you and Drama have become such close
friends over the years, but break yourself from this friend and introduce
yourself to some new friends named Peace,
Hope, and Success. Nobody said
it would be easy, but God hasn’t brought you this far to LEAVE you. Remember
to ask for HIS Guidance in
beginning this process. I am here for
you too and I’m willing to answer any questions you may have about what hinders
your ability to make progress in this area.
