Over the past few years with the increase and growth of technology, especially smart phones, we have been given the ability to play games, catch sport scores, count calories, pay bills, update social media and a plethora of other things at the palm of our hands. Everything has been made easier through the use of Applications aka APPs. This year my Pastor, Bishop Keith L. Clark (BKLC), has decided that we will begin to do some WORK spiritually and psychologically to make our lives better by Downloading APPs every week throughout the 2015 year.

Apply the Positive Practice of TIME MANAGEMENT.”

A person’s days are determined; you have decreed the number of his months and have set limits he cannot exceed. (Job 14: 5)

TIME MANAGEMENT is “to handle correctly the TIME God gives us” (BKLC)

Dr. Rosché says: Have you ever wanted to have greater productivity? Ever wanted increased opportunities for advancement? Ever wanted to achieve important life and career goals? Ever desired less stress in your life? Have you ever looked up and wondered where has the time gone? If you answered YES to any of these questions, then the key to improving your life is TIME MANAGEMENT. Time management is a positive practice that encompasses all of the previous positive practices covered this month. In order to have Balance you need to have time management, in order to maintain time management you must practice Faithfulness and Discipline.

Sense of Time:
A major issue that is not often discussed is the fact that in order to begin with Time management you must have a sense of time. Time is finite to us but often because we indulge in activities that don't add to our lives and may only be a waste of time (i.e. partying, watching TV, gossiping on the phone, etc…). Sometimes we experience a level of dissociation due to issues of past trauma and/or our tendency to self-medicate (i.e. drug and alcohol intake) to get rid of our pain. These activities often lead us to consciously or unconsciously make decisions of no longer connecting to our emotions or thoughts. We must determine if our sense of time is compromised by our own improper coping with daily life stressors. If so, then we must start with replacing our maladaptive coping skills with some more adaptive and positive coping measures before dealing with our ability to practice time management.
Time Management Skills
If you have matured or have dealt with the above issues and they are no longer your concern, but you continue to struggles with organizing and planning how you spend your time effectively. Then, you are in need of the ability to manage your T.I.M.E.
  • Take inventory of what’s important (prioritize)
    • In order to do this you first need to journal and determine how you often spend your time. Is it time wasted or is it result oriented?
    • Plan your day with a To Do list and attempt to adhere to it
  • Invest in the right people, places, and practices
    • Focus your energy into what and who produces results and postpone unnecessary activity
    • Set boundaries with people if they are becoming a distraction
    • Block out distractions: There has to be moments in life where you don’t check email, answer phone calls, or waste time checking FB statuses, Twitter messages, or uploading Instagram photos
  • Maximize what’s helpful, minimize what’s stressful
    • Vision boards are extremely helpful to maximize results. It’s important to visualize where you would like to see yourself within the next year, 5 years, 10 years. So you can begin setting goals to get there!!
    • Don’t take on more than you can handle
    • Use planners or phone calendars. I have found that scheduling tasks in my phone has been the most helpful because reminders will pop up that tell me what must be done.
  • Evaluate what’s not working…and CHANGE it.
    • Reduce procrastination which means get out of your own way to success. Don't put of for tomorrow what you can do today.
    • A major pitfall in time management is ineffectively scheduling how much time a task may actually take.
    • Identify helpful resources (people or practices) that can reduce the amount of energy it may take to complete a task. "Work smarter not harder"
Include “ME TIME” Remember to always schedule in breaks and self-care activities which mean hanging with friends and family but don’t let these activities consume your day and overall your life. These skills are never developed overnight so be kind to yourself and you don’t have to be perfect but definitely practice, practice, practice.

I know it’s WORK and it’s easier to continue to do the same thing over and over again because you and Drama have become such close friends over the years, but break yourself from this friend and introduce yourself to some new friends named Peace, Hope, and Success. Nobody said it would be easy, but God hasn’t brought you this far to LEAVE you. Remember to ask for HIS Guidance in beginning this process. I am here for you too and I’m willing to answer any questions you may have about what hinders your ability to make progress in this area.

Catch the next APP to Download for your life on the World Hit Gospel Show on 106 KMEL or iHeart radio with Tinka, Bishop Keith Clark, and Dr. Rosché at 6 am—10am on Sunday Mornings.
